History of Our Salisbury Location:
The
Holt Company was founded by John T. Holt, Jr. and
commenced operations in 1960. It began solely as a paper and janitorial
supply house and remained as such for the next thirty-eight years. In 1995
Mr. Holt retired and his son, John T. Holt, III, took over as majority owner and
Chief Executive Officer of the business.
In 1998, Holt
expanded its operations by creating a food division. This division
sells a broad range of food products, including dry, refrigerated, and frozen
items as well as produce, smallwares, and other food-related products. Holt
also works with a processor of fresh beef, pork, and poultry that allows
Holt to have custom cut products readily
available. Holt currently has an exclusive program
on Ridgefield Hereford Beef which allows penetration in the white tablecloth trade.
Holt
primary customers include the independent restaurant, general business
and industry, schools, hospitals, and government agencies, healthcare facilities,
cleaning contractors, casinos and hotels, and certain chain businesses. Holt
services its customers by delivering to the entire Eastern Shore of Maryland,
Delaware and Virginia.
